TrafficLeader® partners with AltaVista® to offer Trusted Feed

New DSI Program provides Inclusion Service Into AltaVista Search

Eugene, OR. (September 1, 2001) - TrafficLeader® (www.trafficleader.com), a leading provider of search marketing services, specializing in Feed Management, conversion-to-revenue tracking, and other search-based customer acquisition tools and services, today announced it will offer AltaVista Trusted Feed as a major component within its Direct Search Inclusion (DSI) program for business Web sites. AltaVista Trusted Feed is a premium inclusion service that provides the rapid submission and weekly refresh of content pages in AltaVista Search.

As the first official AltaVista Trusted Feed reseller, TrafficLeader enables large content publishers – business Web sites containing more than 500 URLs – to significantly improve their presence on AltaVista Search. AltaVista, the premier Internet search company and provider of the world’s most comprehensive search service, performs millions of search queries each day in over 25 languages.

Through TrafficLeader DSI, businesses can now determine which pages are included in the database that powers AltaVista's web search, and they can specify detailed customized page information including titles, descriptions and keywords. These elements are used to determine how the pages are ranked within the search results, as well as how the page listings appear to users.

To ensure that listings are fresh and accurate, TrafficLeader provides specific product information to AltaVista via an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) feed, which can be updated weekly. In addition, TrafficLeader is able to create and submit highly relevant optimized pages to increase the likelihood of achieving improved search engine rankings.

"Trusted Feed increases the number of highly qualified and relevant URLs in AltaVista's index," stated Chris Kermoian, Director of Search Services and Web Marketing Services at AltaVista, "and also accepts pages that are traditionally difficult for crawlers to index, such as framed pages or pages with dynamic content."

As a value-added benefit, TrafficLeader is able to have client pages included in AltaVista's Topical Search Centers and Multimedia Searches. The Topical Search centers aggregate information into highly segmented areas and allow users to quickly access information by searching specific topics such as news or shopping.

"Our pay-for-inclusion DSI services, including AltaVista Trusted Feed, maintain an extremely high degree of relevancy," explains Jerry Wiant, president of TrafficLeader, "which enables the search listings achieved by TrafficLeader to drive highly qualified visitors to our clients’ sites."
